Trip details
These are quickly becoming one of the most widespread exotic fish in South Florida. Depending on the time of year and conditions, I can target Peacock Bass from the urban oasis of Miami, all the way deep into the Everglades. Each setting is unique, but the Peacock Bass always live up to their reputation of being incredibly hard fighters no matter where you catch them. Peacock Bass are diurnal, meaning they are active during the day. There’s no need to wake up super early, so enjoy your breakfast. You’re going to need it! Most trips will start between 8 - 9am depending on the time of year. You’ll have the opportunity to land anywhere between 10 to 30 fish on a typical day, and during certain times of year a 45+ fish day is not uncommon. Other species you might connect with while targeting peacocks are largemouth, midas cichlids, mayan cichlids, and if you’re lucky, the rare freshwater snook, and tarpon. Peacock Bass can be selective with what they eat, which is why I highly recommend using live shiners to offer you the best chance of success.
